Stage Art: Hamlet; Gertude
This is some stag e art I made a long time ago for a school project. The idea was to make an interpretation of the play Hamlet. My interpretation was to make the play as an Akira Kurasawa film. Kurasawa made two films during his career. One was Ran which was based on the play king lear and throne of Blood which was based on Mcbeth. Therefore I adapted Hamlet, japanese style.
Here I made different versions of Hamlet the character in a kurasawa film. I studied ancient japanese art to try and get the feel for how art was in the edo era , which is when kurasawa films usually take place.
The first Painting is that of Hamlet, inspired by the ancient historical art by Koi. The others are things that I came up with later.
Your focus determines your reality. There is no emotion; there is peace. There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. There is no passion; there is serenity. There is no death; there is the Force.
